SILK DIAMONDS 7209

This pattern reaches back all the way to Sam’s apprentice days in the early 70’s when he worked under master weaver Andy Oates at Nantucket Looms Sam later elevated the quality of the original cotton textile by altering the  yarn content.  Fine cabled silk yarn known as “Silk Cascade” is used in the warp and is alternated with thin linen in the weft.  The raised diamond texture results from both the pattern structure and the interplay between the heavy silk and the finer linen. The Twill version was altered a bit for the machine loom but still uses a similar silk warp.
